Balcony Waterproofing
Mosman, NSW
Construction Cost: $370k+
August, 2023
Each unit balcony was located above the living area of the unit below, therefore all lower level units were experiencing water ingress from the balcony above. The work consisted of waterproofing remediation to 3 unit balconies and perimeter planterboxes. The balustrade to each balcony was make compliant with face fixed glass balustrades so to not distribute the spectacular views over the Mosman bay.
The balcony remediation work will generally include the replacement of the existing tiles and the waterproofing membrane and slab preparation with new screed to correct falls towards the drainage points. The balcony doors are removed and reinstated to correctly terminate the waterproofing at the door thresholds. The balcony doors will need to be replaced if the reinstatement of the existing doors will affect the new waterproofing and/or be non-compliant for the door threshold waterproofing termination requirements as per the Australian Standards and Design and Building Practitioners Act. The waterproofing installation and detailing is also integrated with adjoining building walls to ensure a wholistic remediation outcome is achieved.
